Ava by Coeur de Pirate

Okay, so I started trying to learn French a couple months ago, and I’m only really halfway through one unit on Rosetta Stone, so I know colours and how to count to twelve (barely) but the other day I thought I’d rewatch that adorable Capucine video from some years back and it all sounded like gibberish to me still and gave me a headache. This has nothing to do with this song, which is great and is kind of upbeat but also really sad and a bit dark?? Take a look at the lyrics translationOh, Ava, you read those words over and over again / From three-sentence-long letters which tear your age off you / You know he’s a coward / But Ava, he just thinks you’re a fool When he kisses you, you feel like living again / But he’s really just renting his bed. AMAZING.

The third in an indeterminate series of prime sassy musical ladies I’ve been listening to lately.

Nathania and I are brothers in adventure, and it is the BEST.
ETA: Her first response to my initial tweet was that she already knew French, having studied it since she was 7! Didn’t want anyone to think she was just using Google Translate for that gem. That was all me; the only words I knew in her tweet was “mon frere” and that’s only because of that Arrested Development episode.
