Baby, it's a straight up thunderstorm outside
Up until about an hour ago, Melbourne had a tornado warning. Hailstones have been falling from the sky, and I’ve seen them described as golf-ball/grape/grapefruit/lemon-sized all over the Internet. I took a video of the first hailstorm, so gleeful and excited was I to see these crazy weather conditions on Christmas Day. Now it’s raining buckets and thundering. All the lights are on...

Jim Fahey by Eileen Myles
mysterysmudgesextra: I’m deep into The Importance of Being Iceland, a collection of travel essays in art, all by EM herself. I got it in September, but I only started reading it in early October. I have dog-eared a lot of pages, and tumbl’d a lot of quotes. This book is resonating with me, in significant ways, and often. Here are excerpts that really hit me, from an essay she wrote about going...

Daniel Day Lewis interviewed by Eileen Myles in...
Eileen: In some weird way, the spaces between the work are what's interesting.
Daniel: Definitely. That part is obscured when you're young because your drive is always leading you from one place to another. It's the resting places or the periods of lying fallow where you do the real work.
Eileen: The thing that's scary about not doing anything or not doing what people are inviting you to do, is you feel like you're facing death in a way.
Daniel: Yeah, I think you're right. It's little death and you have lots of little practices.

Mystery Smudges Extra →
It just felt like the right time to remind y’all/tell you guys for the first time that I have a “poetry tumblr”, where I post poems (very rarely, they are my own) and also interesting photos/images/art/graphics I think have “poetic potential”, whatever that is. Follow if that’s your deal! Have a good week.

WatchWatch
I’m watching the Community Christmas special right now, and I’m at the part where Annie is singing to Jeff in a Sexy Mrs. Claus outfit, and it just reminded me of this Jimmy Fallon rant about the song Santa Baby.  (via itsgirlgerm)
