open doors lead to absent handy men →
My favourite excerpts from my most recent blog post, which is about the inauthencity of some conversations I’ve been having in my life, and how I muddle through them, my brain half split as I talk and make things up to say.
Is it a writer’s curse to invent words to string together as you speak, your lips like the nibs of pens, the lead tips of pencils and your tongue and breath the ink?...

Baby, it's a straight up thunderstorm outside
Up until about an hour ago, Melbourne had a tornado warning. Hailstones have been falling from the sky, and I’ve seen them described as golf-ball/grape/grapefruit/lemon-sized all over the Internet. I took a video of the first hailstorm, so gleeful and excited was I to see these crazy weather conditions on Christmas Day. Now it’s raining buckets and thundering. All the lights are on...

Jim Fahey by Eileen Myles
mysterysmudgesextra:
I’m deep into The Importance of Being Iceland, a collection of travel essays in art, all by EM herself. I got it in September, but I only started reading it in early October. I have dog-eared a lot of pages, and tumbl’d a lot of quotes. This book is resonating with me, in significant ways, and often. Daniel Day Lewis interviewed by Eileen Myles in...
Eileen: In some weird way, the spaces between the work are what's interesting.
Daniel: Definitely. That part is obscured when you're young because your drive is always leading you from one place to another. It's the resting places or the periods of lying fallow where you do the real work.
Eileen: The thing that's scary about not doing anything or not doing what people are inviting you to do, is you feel like you're facing death in a way.
Daniel: Yeah, I think you're right. It's little death and you have lots of little practices.
